Last week i saw a player stand A5vs10
A few people tried to warn him, but he wasn't having any of it.

RJT.
Last night I saw a guy double a hard 7 (3,4) vs. an Ace....he was drunk

(also he doubled EVERY 8-11 no matter what the dealer upcard was)

There were a couple of guys who were pretty bad though, but ended up winning pretty big. There was the young guy who bought in with $20, got down to his last $5 several times, and ended up walking out with over $100 about 45 minutes later. He was so terrible, standing on A-6 against a 10, standing on 14 or 15 against a 10, hitting 14s against 5s and 6s. A couple times he'd get up to $40 and then tell his buddies "I'm going all-in", put the $40 down, and win the sucker. I just had to shake my head.
Where do they get this "all in" thing for BJ?

Couple of months back, sat at a table with 4 guys who were together. Each bought in for $100-200 and when they were down to $25-$50 would usually announce "all in" and I swear win more often than not. Otherwise their play was mediocre, most relying on one guy's advice that was usually OK. Didn't see any walk away a winnder, but they seemed to keep going with this so called strategy.

Oops, we were agreeing, I just had some words backwards in my mind. And the math too.
Well I don't know what you were saying but what I was trying to get at is one has to take into account the frequency that you will recieve a hand to know what's it's going to cost you globally if you choose to always misplay the hand.

So, even though you lose more on 15 vs 7 when u get it compared to 15 vs 10, you get the former alot fewer times.

It's why not hitting a 16 vs 10 will cost you more than always insuring a BJ even though 16 vs 10 is such a close play.

I had once came across a situation where a player wanted to double his 16 against the dealer's 10. The dealer ask him twice and he said yes. I felt I had to put my 2 cents worth and ask to get an second opinion from the Inspector. The inspector told him it is not adviceable and if he really want to do it . He replied yes again so the inspector told the dealer to deal the card to him. Surprise, surprise he busted.
