It is NEVER correct to double on a natural, no matter how high the count. That said, I was playing at the Riviera years ago ('87) and I threw out two max bets at the end of the shoe and caught two naturals as the pitcritter was telling me that it was my "last hand". So, I doubled BOTH of them against dealer 5, won both doubles, told the PC, "That's what you call good to the last drop!" ...and then I took a bow for the eye. zg

I stand corrected - only do it when u have 2 hands out with a max bet

Nice when stuff like that happens - guess it's the crazy stuff one remembers years later.

VP has enormous variance and N0 because even with cashbacks you are always playing at a disadvantage until you hit a royal.
Interesting AM, but there are VP games where the Royal is not the only way to make it positive. With JOB with 9/6 tables, I tend to agree with you. They are below 100% on ER even before you take away the Royal. And, with JOB, nothing else pays significantly other than getting 2 for 1 on two pair. Take away the RF and your ER drops significantly. From 99.544% to 98.373%. Variance on this "full pay" game is around 19%.

However, with full pay DB 10/7, if you remove the 800:1 RF and make it 250:1, the ER drops from 100.173% down to 99.108%. Considering comps and bounceback cash, the ER can still become positive. Variance on this game is around 28%.

Though there are other VP games I play, DB and DDB are my two primary targets. The variance on DDB however, is way up there at 42%. You will need deep pockets to play this game. Lots of swings.
