I’m using the Red 7 counting system and have been practicing counting for about a week. I keep losing count about midway through the deck. Does anyone else have this problem? Any help will be appreciated.
Everything published about the Red 7 count got one thing wrong. On a single deck the IRC is -2 and
they say when your finished counting down a deck of cards you should end with a +2. Wrong!!!!!!
The running count should be 0 at the end of the deck not +2. Even Arnold Snyder got it wrong and
he’s the author of the book. Everyone else in these Blackjack forums that publishing stories on the RED 7 system also got it wrong. It seems they blindly write these articles without checking. No wonder I was having a hard time
counting down a deck of cards.
Correct, when the dealer hits soft 17, you still double 11vA. If the dealer stands on soft 17, you just hit (unless you are playing a one or two deck game.)
For exact strategies for your rules, see the Strategy Engine.
Hello, i’m new at the surrender rule. I’ve been thinking about some strategy that can protect me from some awful situations, and found myself playing in multihand with two hands, one just covering the other one. Can I adapt my range of surrender when i play two hands? for example, i have 13 and 20 against a 9. A surrender in 13, isn’t a good choice? because in many situations, i will be profitable. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ken,
I’m right at the beginning of my c.c career and would like to thank you for the help you have provided via these lessons, for me the most difficult part has been memorising the 41 variations -3 to + 10… I’m curious as to why you haven’t included the 10,10 vs 6 split at T.C +4 and 10,10 vs 5 split at T.C +5. Is it for camouflage motives?
Also why does the European basic strategy version (no peek) entail not splitting A,A against an A whereas the American version denotes split? I’m wondering whether I need to revise the variations for the European game
lastly are there pros and cons to CVBJ vs other programmes such as MGp’s blackjack combination analyser?
I’m no longer involved in the site here, but I occasionally drop in to reply to questions…
The GameMaster’s course did leave out the ten splits for camo reasons, and it’s generally a good idea to ignore them.
For European games, the reason that you are more conservative against dealer tens and aces is that you could still lose everything to a dealer blackjack, even after splitting or doubling. That can’t happen in the US “peek” game.
CBVJ vs MGP’s CA… CVBJ is a practice tool, while MGP’s software only generates strategy information (and only for basic strategy, not card counting.)
I am surprised at so many comments that sound so professional, but how naive so many players are. When your gambling no matter if you count cards or use whatever strategy makes you comfortable IT’S GAMBLING! The odds are against you from the start and yes you can practice and count cards all you like, but lady luck always, always wins. Very few are able to make a living gambling it’s just for fun don’t take the game or yourself so serious it’s a waste of time.
As good as you think this trainer game is and it is a good one there are still many flaws in it. I have lost more on this trainer than in real life. So take and use it for what it is worth, fun.
My best advice to those who are new to all this is to know when to walk away no matter if your winning and especially when your losing. The next time you venture to your local casino watch the people when playing you will be amazed at what you see. I see so many people sit down to play out of desperation and within minutes lose everything. If you feel desperate don’t play, you will lose and don’t take it out on the dealer it’s not their fault. The house has every right to win just like you do.

65% is the standard for ALL games, irregardless of the number of decks?

Plus royal match side game that if others are playing you might see their cards since they have to show the match.

What would you do if you have a hard 11 and dealer is showing an Ace? 6-deck game, dealer hits on soft 17. I would still double, am I wrong?

Still plenty of good games outside LV.

This is the best article about BJ I’ve ever read. I’m sure this will be the start of BJ for me.
Would it make any difference if I play 2hand when the count is good and back to one hand when it is bad.
Yes, that’s a useful thing to do to improve your results.

Hi Ken,
So these variations are done according to the true count not the running count?
Thanks.
