So i say to a young person ...explore and experience... Do alot of different stuff,,, you might find something you really enjoy!!!

I couldn't agree with your view more, Machinist. What better time for someone to take a chance and follow a dream than when they are young and only responsible for themselves. Before dependants and mortgages and multiple car payments and so on and so on. As a matter of fact I just relayed this opinion to a young player who pmed me, this week, who is considering advantage play when he completes his education shortly.

Funny thing though, when I expressed this similar opinion a while back on the board, several members jumped all over me. :laugh:

seems a good thing to be humble before it, accept and receive from nature as if gives forth it's bounty with respect and thanksgiving, not expecting more than what is.
so it is in the wild kingdom, so it is in the wild casinodom.
maybe help far as those wild swings, dead, dead, boring times, or whatever an AP deals with, maybe?

I don't need nor desire your sympathy. I have been on vacation for 5 weeks with limited casino play (foxwood promotion and a couple casual days checking out some of the east coasts new venues), but hope to continue hitting them hard after Labor day. Thanx for the thought.

I'll tell you what kj I don't know how you do it, but keep on doing it. There is no way I could pull up on vacation for 5 weeks straight and I'm playing with a substantially larger bankroll than yourself. (This is going on what you have said in the past, as far as the bankroll figure I'm going by, don't know if thats changed) Anyway, as a rather low to mid stakes grinder, you have found a way to pull off the improbable. Good for you, I hope you enjoy your time off. Me personally, not only can I not do that, although with team members it can be managed to have some time off, I don't think I could take all that time off straight just because I like the work. But I also probably put less time per week in the casino then you so different play styles has its pros and cons it seems. Anyway good luck to you, keep it up.

When I say I am on vacation, Bojack, I just mean taking a bit of a break from my usual blackjack schedule. I am not jetting all over the world or anything. Just dividing my time between Philly and the Jersey shore. (Wildwood not Atlantic City) Mainly just staying out of the desert for July and August, although I think July had twenty, 90+ degree days on the east coast and 90 degree, humid east coast is far worse than 100 degree Vegas dry heat. Luckily August has been a little more normal. It also has given me the chance to catch up with friends that I moved away from. As I said, I have played a bit of blackjack, checking out the games at Parx casino, Delaware Park, and Sands in Bethlehem, as well as the Mohegan Sun promotion. I have even been to AC once, but choose to stay away as I have experienced AC enough over the last 6 years to know that summer isn't my favorite time of year there. :laugh:

As for the financial concerns, remember that my living expenses are minimal, as I am single with no dependants. I don't even own a car. Up until 2 years ago, I never made more than 20-some grand in any year, either playing blackjack or at a job, so the money I am earning these days seems like a windfall to me. Far more than I need or am used to. I am sure that wouldn't be the case for yourself or most other members of this site. Thanx for the encouragement. You are always a class act.

Actually not very often. I've had far more issues with those supposed to be friends and potential teamates, then with other crews. While there is the occasional dustup on a mutual playing site with other AP's, its never anything that can't be handled fairly easily. It just takes a little persuasive communication. Give respect, get respect. If that rule can't be followed all bets are off.

ok, i figured as much, considering what i'm guessing your venue is mainly.
but yes, give and get respect for sure in general, otherwise things can get ugly.
so but, also, i can imagine some shenanigans might well occur with in a group. kind of a scary thought that too, as say some team member gets upset to the point they could turn rat. i'll bet it's a fairly complicated thing running a team. i know just doing something as simple as splits with another isn't as simple as one might think, since there are so many ways two or more people can win and lose money by whatever amount, not even have plays, ect, all that in various combination and amounts, sorta thing.
whatever, i imagine, teams might end up where the money is right and the games are right for professionals sorta thing, was just wondering, thank you.

it did indeed end up as stated.
it could have went beyond that point, perhaps to a point that could help some of us work out a better understanding of advantage play and voodoo stuff. i say this in no way meaning to be argumentative and i fully respect your desire for the subject of religion to not hold sway over AP stuff.
key here, imho, is that we might have got to a nitty gritty point of understanding with respect to how advantage players think and are motivated as opposed to how voodoo practitioners, or ploppies think and are motivated.

so if that were the case, it would seem a freedom in one's mind to imagine all types of scenario's in a creative way is a good thing when planning some advantage tactic, thing is though that could leave one vulnerable to aspects that it would be wise to re-examine in the light of morality, ethics and religion, as those principles are often more efficient in protecting us against breaking the law than say a full lifetime of undertaking a study of law, sorta thing.

Truth is, if we can't discuss religion, we should not be permitted to discuss science either. Islam is one person's religion, science another's. And for some, there is a compatibility between the two.

OTOProverbialH, the age old adage comes into play, that is, that there are two things to avoid in polite conversation, religion and politics. In that vein, who can argue with the current BJINFO policy?

My advice: start thee thine own Blackjack site or expand ZZ to include BJ, if thy charter permits! I may join thee, but I do not wish to join an all-religion-and-politics site.
