Plus, they often have $10 games in the easternmost area of the casino in the vicinity of the poker room.Thunder said:Forget about the $5 game. You will almost certainly have to wait a while to get a seat. There are usually two $10 games though right next to it. Last time I checked, there were 6 deck NMSE games in the main pit by the high roller area.
Haven't been there in a couple months, so things may have changed, but it used to be that they opened that 'eastern' pit near the poker room, mixx and wolfgang puck's at noon. Somedays they only open all the tables including blackjack and somedays they open everything but blackjack. I think the weekdays, they don't open blackjack in that area, but Fri, Sat, Sun they open everything. They also open a few additional tables in the $10 blackjack pit on the main floor and additional $25 tables on the main floor at noon, so that is a good time to play as everything thins out and for an hour or two you can even table hop.aslan said:Plus, they often have $10 games in the easternmost area of the casino in the vicinity of the poker room.
If one really wants to play the $5 game, they should arrive around 6 or 7 a.m. as I recall. The seats are generally held throughout the day, so there is little chance of getting one at any other time.
If you get in a $10 game, they will grandfather you in when it turns higher limit in the evening. It's nice to be able to bet $10 in a $25 min game.
I thought I had seen $10 6-deck tables on the main floor from time to time. If I don't write it down, it gets lost in the blur of different stores I visit.kewljason said:Haven't been there in a couple months, so things may have changed, but it used to be that they opened that 'eastern' pit near the poker room, mixx and wolfgang puck's at noon. As a rule, but I'm thinking occasionally when they convert a normally $25 table to $10, they might deal it 6-deck simply because the discard tray is sized for 6-deck. I swear (sts) I've seen it.Thunder said:Nope. They only have 8 deck games for the $10 tables.
Again, I'm not sure what KJ meant by main floor. He may have been referring to the pits by the cashier, not those by the HL area. Still, I can't help thinking I saw a $10 6-deck table since they changed over to 8-deck tables. Of course, based on the fact that last night I had to turn to my wife and ask her what road we were driving on, you're probably right. PS--I was the driver.Thunder said:I have never seen them turn any of the $ 25 tables in the main pit with the 6 deck games into $10 tables let alone $15 tables even at 6am on a weekday. If you did see that, then you were quite lucky to get that game. Usually they have all of the tables open for BJ except the ones by the poker room during the weekdays. Sometimes if they're really crowded, they'll open up that section on a weekday night but generally it's reserved for Friday and Sat. nights.
I am not sure where the HL area is. I rotate among the 4 pits that I know of that are $25 and below. As you walk in the main entrance (large revolving door) The large table games area to the left has 2 full blackjack pits of 6 deck, $25 and up min games and another full pit of non blackjack games. I then head around the back of that pit to the asian pit (near metropolitian) that usually has about 4 blackjack tables open. 8 deck games, $10 minimums with one $5 minimum and also one handicap table. Then head over to the far east pit by the poker room that you mentioned, which is not open most weekdays, but does open on fridays-sunday at noon (or at least used to) and complete the circle with the pit closest to the cashier which usually has 8 deck, $10 and $15 tables during the week.aslan said:Again, I'm not sure what KJ meant by main floor. There are 2 HL areas. If you're walking down the corridor from the parking garage towars the casino, the 2 main BJ pits are right in front of you. The HL area is just to the left of theses pits, as they are in front of you, up a few steps. There is a second HL area, usually open weekends only, enclosed by glass and including a bar, behind the pit that was first to go 8D (near the poker room).kewljason said:I am not sure where the HL area is.
I knew about the first HL room up a few steps--they have the closest and usually cleanest bathroom to the nearby 25/50/100 pits. It's one of my favorite wong-out spots. I did not know about the second HL pit. Thanks for that.21forme said:There are 2 HL areas. Come to think of it, I remember this first area as well. Never played there though. I avoid high limit areas. For starters they are usually out of my price range. ($25 unit for shoe games) I also don't like the extra scrutiny, like 3 pit dudes standing around watching 1 or 2 players. Generally not my cup of tea, exception being if much better conditions/rules are being offered, like happens at one of the smaller AC marina district stores with surrender offered in HL room.aslan said:I knew about the first HL room up a few steps--they have the closest and usually cleanest bathroom to the nearby 25/50/100 pits. Bally's at the Ridge is one of my favorites, and pending on your style and likes, I do like to play casually at the House of Blues at the Showboat, the dealers are all pretty girls. :grin:bjcardcounter said:Seems Borgata has the best - 6D, S17.
