Well, I said I'm not going to argue about tipping any more, and I'm not, but rather arguing about how to interpret the scriptures. Normally, a person in a casino is there for entertainment, losing, chasing an addiction, etc. That person is doing business with the casino, where the casino provides a service, and the wages of the staff should come out of their revenue.

On the other hand, an AP is taking money from the business. You are there for profit, and the people serving you are making minimum wage or less. The house can't be saddled with the sole responsibility of paying this employee, because they're losing money to you.

And let's be realistic, if they had to pay living wages, comps would go down, table mins would go up, and crowding would be an issue. It's not a perfect system, but it is a system that benefits us.
There is nothing in the scriptures about tipping casino dealers so don't even try to bring that into the discussion. A casino provides nothing of value to society...I don't go to a casino to support casino employees, I go there to take their money. If I could win enough to put a casino out of business I would feel zero guilt about everyone losing their jobs.

Dealers make a ridiculous amount of money for what they do. (a very slightly skilled profession that can be taught to almost anyone with the intelligence slightly above a monkey). They get full benefits, meals, and a 15 minute break every hour. Tipping is and always has been optional. If you're a low stakes player you will remain a low stakes player if you tip. (or a no-stakes player as any tipping will drive your risk of ruin through the roof). If you're a high stakes player you should only tip if you think it helps you with some aspect of your game or image. Low stakes players are expected not to tip...so why do it.

Makes sense, I know waiters and waitresses are huge tippers when they go out to eat.

What really funny is when strippers find themselves out in a different strip club, they tip the local strippers too. Some strippers get into being admired by other women and some loathe it, so it can make for some interesting social dynamics.

Tip, if you can get something in return, or if your moral code requires you to tip.
We all enjoy well tipped strippers::cool::laugh:

Steve Buscemi disagrees! He had a minimum wage job that society didn't think it should tip, but he survived just fine!
Every time I encounter a discussion of tipping, I see Steve Buscemi.

Reading through this thread, I visualized casinos full of dealers and ploppies, all of them Steve Buscemi, as if it's Being John Malkovich.

So when WE tip it does come from their revenue :) I guess the same could be said for a ploppy, who would just lose that additional money at the casino anyway.

Personally, I tip a small amount in my home town even though I'm a red chipper. I know I'm giving up a healthy chunk of EV (up to 33% some hours, which turns out to be just $5 per dealer/half hour) but I just don't really care that much. I know what my REAL RoR is, and I'm happy to play for $20/hour in a friendly environment.

Of course, I'd rather tip a smaller percentage of EV and in addition have it be more money, but I'm not quite there yet... And I realize I will have to wait longer to GET there while tipping. But, it seems that most of the dealers are very greatfull for the small amount I tip. I alway's get a "thanks for the try" when a $2.50 toke I play loses, a "thanks for the bets" when they leave the table, and nobody's complained when it wins either. Where I play I see a few people that are VERY generous tippers, but like 90-95% tip $0. It's hard to imagine that the dealers are making any more than I do on average.

Oh god when John Malkovich went into his own head.....I love that movie. John Cusack, Cameron Diaz.....John Malkovich.....

That would be a terrifying casino, especially if each Buscemi was a different character he portrayed. One is Donny, Mr. Pink, the receptionist from Barton Fink, Crazy Eyes, guy going through the woodchipper.......course for the Donny there would have to be a Walter telling him that he was out of his element every time he opened his mouth.
