As of this morning all the tables at MGM except Pit 31 ( High Rollers Room)
have been changed to H17. MGM has joined Foxwoods.
By 7 o'clock about half the tables had been done. There was talk of leaving a couple of tables S17, but I've learned long ago not to listen to clueless staff. I did hear something unusual from two different supervisors. They both claim that the felts in pit 31 will be changed to H17, however if a player requests an S17 game he or she will be accommodated. Players were griping this morning not because of the change, but because they were crammed into the few tables that were open. MGM tables all have 7 spots. No one is happy about this change, but from the penetration I've seen especially at Foxwoods, there is no reason to fear this game.

Here's how the new felts read word for word:

Dealer must draw to 16 and soft 17 and stand on hard 17's and all 18's.

That should clear up any questions for the few players who will actually bother to read it.

If that's the exact wording, it still is a little confusing. It says the dealer must draw TO soft 17, not draw ON soft 17?

Still, I guess there's not as many reasons to play at MGM now versus Foxwoods. It's probably best to spread play around now anyways.

Ultimately, it's still a much more beatable game than MS due to pen.

I don't like that wording either but it is typical. "Drawing to" a hand is to draw a card with that hand, not to draw cards until you have that hand.

Hit S17 at MGM

Confirmed that all MGM including pit 31 (High Limit) room has changed the felts.
The floor supervisors did allow a s17 gane to be played when I asked.
I encourage everyone who plays MGM to complain vigorously and state emphatically they will play mostly at Mohegan from now on due to the change.
It may not help ..... but with all the bitching people do in a casino it can't hurt !!!!!!!!!!!

With arrogant floors and dealers and now H17, there is absolutely no reason to play at MGM. I completely agree with spreading your play around and with the lousy pen at MS. I scouted it out today and nothing's changed.

Unlike floors and dealers, pit bosses go back and forth between Foxwoods and MGM.

Where are the remaining S17 tables at Foxwoods (CBJN says there are still 26 of them)? Are they all in high-limit areas or are there any on the main floor?

The Newport Room has 6 deck S17 starting at $50 minimums. Penetration is just over 80%,the heat is high and there is no wonging. Many players are opting for the 8 deck H17 games on the main floor with about 90% pen.

You can get away with quite a bit at these games and yes, they are beatable.
