Not playing for comps in Vegas

My conclusion as well, Dye. Thank you. I think people advising me to incorporate comps and offers into my play, probably don't understand how I play, how much I move around and how short many of my sessions are. Often times I when I sit down at a table if the count goes negative right away, I am gone withing a few hands. Sometimes when I do play rated, I am done playing and ready to leave, before the floorman has returned my card.

The times I play real short sessions or even if I stick around for the whole shoe betting $25, I wouldn't earn much credit. The times I would earn some points are the big plus counts, when I am throwing some black out and those are really the times I don't want them to know who I am, so in that regard it's kind of a catch 22.

You know the value of MGM properties well, Dye. 7 MGM stores that I play regualarly made up nearly 50% of my income last year, and over 50% so far this year. I am not doing anything to jepordize that.
I'm not sure how much one has to bet to get room comps. I know in AC, I could get rooms at Borgata from Sun thru Thurs even when I hardly played there and had a red card, their lowest. I'm thinking it would be convenient for you to have a couple of places on the strip where you can get a room comp and use it for rest periods between gambling sessions without ever having to leave the strip. Same goes for downtown or station casinos. I'm thinking of getting comped rooms this next trip to Vegas so I don't have to drive home before I'm ready. For example, the last offer I had from Harrah's (Caesar's) was for three rooms. I hardly ever play at any of there properties, but when I stayed there last, I made sure to put in a few hours. I don't know how they make out, but the comps keep coming. Maybe there's more to comps than amount of play; do you think they run a credit check on their customers?

Rooms are very easy to come by. If you have a card and play anything at all, you get room offers. Anyone who needs rooms should play rated a bit and/or throw a few bucks at VP or another game. I don't need rooms. At least not in vegas. I can be home 'to rest' almost as quickly as I could get to the room. And I actually prefer my home, my bed, my belongings, my music selection. The only value of rooms for me is when I am going out of town for a bit. I feel similarly about comped meals. If you are a person that enjoys the top restuarants, especially if you have wife, other that you eat with, then play rated and get comps to the restuarants. I am single and eat alone most of the time. I don't need a hundred dollar comp to the finest restuarants. A 10 dollar comp for breakfast or a burger at lunch time or a $15 dollar comp to the lower end places for dinner works just fine for me. Especially if I am working and want just want a quick meal. If I play rated just a very small percentage of the time at the smaller places that I play, where I have to tone down my max bet anyway, I can more than meet all of my comp need, with very little risk to exposing myself and losing my best money making opportunities.

No I don't think they run a credit check to determine comps. But certainly easy enough to see. Look at your credit report. :)

Oh, I have, and if I were a casino, I would, too, not to determine comp amounts, but definitely to determine other perks.

Many big time gamblers don't use a lot of credit. They are strickly cash folks. Especially whats left of the old timer gamblers, so credit reports would be misleading and a missed opportunity for the casinos.

Also you do know that an organization needs your permission to check your credit, right? When you apply for credit, you sign allowing them to check, Even if an employer runs a credit check, you sign allowing them to. A casino can't just run a credit check because they have your information. At least not legally.

You missed my point. They can find out a lot about a person's finances, ie, whether they have deep pockets, by information like credit reports.
