What will you do if people beg for money?

I bought in with quarters from my car's ashtray once to finish off a double down. The look on the dealer's face was priceless. It's a long story, but it was a low limit promo where I flat bet 2x25 so I had only brought a few hundred with me. I had a very bad run to start and lost what was in my wallet plus the $500 ATM withdrawal and couldn't get more out till midnight. Prior to the last shoe I went out to the car and got the few dollars in quarters just in case.

Anyways, I won the double down, rallied hard and they cancelled the promo about a week later after I was up about 10-11k. True story.

Agreed. I've been down to my last bet late in a trip and made my whole trip bankroll back and then some more than once. Variance can bitch slap you but the worm turns eventually.

I didn't realize this was such an old thread, but wrt the OP, I just flat out tell beggars in a firm tone, "I don't loan money to anyone in a casino." Even the beggars can usually see the logic in this. If they keep pushing, I say something like "Hey, I wouldn't give my <mother/best friend/whatever> a loan if we were in a casino together." If they continue to pester, I would either leave (if safe) or report to a pit boss or some other higher up. I don't really like the last option because I prefer to stay as under the radar as possible while in a casino.

I had a guy the other day who got on my good side by "rooting for me" and such, and then things got weird when he asked me for a green to play poker with. I just said no and then didn't say a word to the guy after that.

No, she wasn't hungry, she was a drug addict. 100% of the people panhandling in parking lots are drug addicts. 0% will admit it even if you confront them. Even the ones with signs that say "Why lie? I need beer" aren't buying beer, they're buying dope.

this isnt entirely true, its been a good 10 yrs or so, but i panhandled for a few years when i first started playing poker, because for the first few years i was learning, and wasnt quite good enough to win much, and my roll was very low. and all it did was pay about $20-40 a day working many hours, and i had to move constantly due to security guards making me move along. once 3 times in my entire life did i get a $100 bill. thank God those days are over now, and my rolls higher this year than its ever been. (around $13,000) most of the time in the past, about 10 yrs ago it was between ($750 and $2000) then the last 2-3 yrs it was usually bettween $2500 and $6000. only lately in the past 6 months has it been usually always 10k or so.

i lost so often in the past playing VBJ machines and VP machines, and played so many hours of poker, i got room comps all over the place now, especially with my players card promotions. ill never run out of comp dollars and i get free slot play all over vegas ever month. and im averaging $100-200 a day 7 days a week playing $1-2 NL all day long. lots better than when i averaged $25-50 a day playing $1-5 stud in the 90s when i was panhandling to come up with the money to sit at the table all nite and sleep outdoors during the day instead of indoors in nice casino rooms. its nice to know theres always a chance for a brighter and better future once u get in about 20 yrs experience and become smarter and better.

i do however get panhandled a lot downtown mostly by people of an ethnic background im afraid of, and often while im at a machine at binions i shouldnt play, or even in the bathroom which really scares me. and i would give, but it seems like i was the only one who invested the money wisely, and never once used it for alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs. i never had any of them bad habits, unlike what people mightve thought who didnt give. all i ever did was gamble. and once or twice i even accepted an offer to go to someones house and do some odd labor to earn some money, and im sure they mightve been surprised by that too. once a guy screwed me by not paying after i mowed his lawn and that really infuriated me.

If an addict can become an AP maybe an alcoholic can become a wine connoisseur. I hope no aspiring young player is inspired by your story. I'm glad you're getting by now, but you didn't take the difficult path, you took the WRONG path.

So what you are saying is that you're the exception that proves the rule?

Anyway, I am happy that you are doing well now. There are not many success stories of former Vegas panhandlers. Kudos!

Amen to that! It is an inspiring story for anyone who is already on the WRONG path, but like you say, I would not want any young people thinking they too could take a stab at Vegas when they are ill-prepared to do so. The death rate for homeless people is extremely high, which I know from my own experience.

Yeah I found one of those chicks. She was this freaking gorgeous asian chick with amazing breasts and ass, and was trying to hustle me to play her lucky ladies and double downs, and then maybe pay for a night with one of her Asian hos. I doubled one hand down and played one lucky lady for her at table minimum, and got 8 hrs of good fondle action out of it. It was all "baby" this and "baby" that until she realized I was a no pay for play type guy but was a "fondle for free" type guy, lol.

The amount of begging in Vegas is unbelievable. I think I got a good 5 or 6 street beggars walk up to me and ask for money while I was there. The only time I gave was when I gave some bread and milk to this woman who brought her child out begging with her. I was sort of repulsed that she probably doesn't care for the child much more than as a means to get charity.

Imagine the +EV when she never doubles down and lets you play her Lucky Ladies.

If he says something like, "No, no - I'm asking you for money", then I say, "I'm sorry - I meant to say, 'No thank you for the opportunity to help you'." You have to say this with the deepest respect or else it seems obnoxious.
