I'm still pluggin' along, but nobody wants to see the results. I blasted through my own N0 about 800 hands ago, but nothing magical happened. Right now I'm down just under 2 SDs.

I finished the book about the submarine, but that hasn't helped. If anybody wants me, look for me at the bottom of the Marianas Trench!

glad you finished that book. lol.

something i'm not understanding. hopefully Kasi will read this.
seems strange the N0 for the KOpreferred spreadsheet is only 27,142 rounds and the N0 for the hi/lo spreadsheet is 44,200 rounds

..............KOpreferred sheet....................................................hi/lo sheet

You're doing all right. It kind of points out something I've noticed about BJ. Everything can go fine for 5 trips, and then the sixth trip is a disaster--same person, same games, same methods, but different results. Here we have four guys doing fine, one of them doing great, and you can't seem to do anything right. I think it would be more surprising if we all did well. It's not what happens in real life, which is another way of saying, all those rules about adequate bankroll and RoR are not just good ideas, they can only be ignored at your own inevitable peril--sooner or later. As a team, we're doing great, and that's all that matters. I'm sure you're playing just as well as me, but just going through a period of bad luck. It's supposed to be this way.

seeming disparity in N0 for kopreferred & hi/lo ?

in referance to this post:
http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bb/showpost.php?p=89171&postcount=267
where i showed how our ko preferred spreadsheets and hi/lo spreadsheets had a seeming disparity between N0's. it also appears in the cvcx sims of the two as shown below.
i'm just wondering how it is that two counting systems of virtually equal strength with the same bet spread going up against the same game would reach their respective N0 at such a wide differance in number of rounds.

I wouldn't begin to answer that one! I can hardly calculate my own age--takes all my fingers and all my toes over three times round with my elbows and knees as place holders. I do want to point out that I am spreading $50 to $500, not the $25 to $250 originally agreed upon. I'm using KO Preferred (13 indices for 6-deck, which includes insurance).

I had a long plus count in which I only lost two hands! It doesn't happen very often, at least not to me.

There was a movie in 1954 that might help, "The High and the Mighty, starring John Wayne. Also, the song, Stairway to Heaven, vintage 1971, by Led Zeppelin, might be appropriate. And just to leave on a high note, how about, Fly Me to the Moon; you might like the Frank Sinatra version from 1964.

Oh, and one more just popped into my head...who could ever forget the old maestro himself, Dino Crocetti, or more popularly known as Dean Martin, with his That's Amore!, in 1953:

...When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That's amore
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine
That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling
And you'll sing "Vita bella"
Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay, tippy-tippy-tay
Like a gay tarantella

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool
That's amore
When you dance down the street with a cloud at your feet
You're in love
When you walk down in a dream but you know you're not
Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That's amore...

Try humming this as you play...you won't be able to lose! I gaurrrrr...annnn...teeee...it (in the words of Justin Wilson).

[It also cures lumbago, sore knee, achy elbow, neck strain, and a host of other ills. Please don't send money; I'm happy to help. ;)]

Ha..Ha..Ha..Ha..Ha..Ha..Ha..Your killin me.. Havent seen much John Wayne or any of his movies; but I'll be sure to keep my eye open for the high and mighty. Im a Gun Smoke and James Arnez fan. And ya, I like fly me to the moon, Sinatra version. Good song! Never heard of Dino Crocetti, AKA Dean Martin? Just recently, I saw that infomercial about him, hosted by Regis Philban. I sat there and watched for the 30min, while it aired. (Learned a little about Dean Martin . Still know very little about him.

Maybe Canceler will read this and give it try. I think Im gonna Limewire some Dean Martin. Its the sign Ive been waiting for:rolleyes:

Not anytime soon. I already admitted in another thread that I can't sing and keep the count at the same time! Although, the WW play would give me a good chance to practice visualizing the count, rather than saying it in my head. Might slow me down at first, but maybe that would be good. Slow down the losses that way.

This is an illustration of the vast superiority of KO over HiLo.

:joker: Just kidding! Mostly. I do notice that in your CVCX shots, especially looking at the Custom lines, KO has both a higher win rate AND lower SD. Since both of those are components of N0, and there is squaring going on, mathematically it does come out to that huge difference.

N0 = (SD/Win Rate)^2

Who'd a thunk it?

darn no you got me wonderin if i screwed up one of the sims
or both
i mean heck like you say who'd a thunk it.
guess i'll double check the sims.

edit==>>> yeah ok when i started checking the sims i remmembered that the hi/lo sim is done with no matices and if i recall correctly kopreffered has built in matrices. so i'm guessing that could make the differance.

A very limited number of matrices for 6-deck, 13 in all I think, and the largest by far is the Insurance at +3 (if you can call that a matrix) and I'm playing No Insurance, so it doesn't leave you with much of any consequence.

I'm not sure what you mean by built in? It;s just KO played with the Illustrious 18 basically. It's like any other counting system when you add indices.

yep i dunno much about kopreferred or ko for that matter but any who the use of those 13 or so departures against hi/lo using none over multiple millions of rounds would at least make for some additional advantage on the kopreferred sim over the hi/lo.
