yes i did change unit spread. i was trying to simplify the original sheet you downloaded since it was originally set up for two sim's if you recall.
i didn't mess it up did i?
i had a dual intent for attaching it as i wanted to share it with one of the guys who went to the BJ BASH. by the way Kasi, where the heck was you? my wife was devastated you didn't show, lol.
please let me know if i messed the sheet up, cause i'll ask Sonny to wack it if i did and i'll try and get a good one posted in place of it.
So how was the Bash? Did everyone meet up with your expectations as to what they would be like in person? lol I bet you had a blast. Where was it, BTW? Did you team up on the casino? lol Any good stories to report?

The 2009 bash is already in the making. We just might have to grace them next time around, with our presence sir aslan?

I suggest the bash to end all bashes on December 21, 2012. We should be planning for the big one now!!! It promises to be a real blast!!! zg might even be tempted to pick up the tab!!! But you'll have to deal with him on that one.

currently the location is classified top secret, lol. let us just say it's within the fearsome territories of a stealthy predator, one of his many estates that stretch across the mid-west, hidden secrets shall we say.:cool2:
i've yet to write much on the subject as it is one of the dark subjects i think most of us on this forum, the nature of which understand full well, lol.
i shall, though if my keyboard doesn't fail me soon spin a yarn, perhaps coded, shrouded maybe in poetry try and tell the tale of the mid-west bj bash.

an honor not unlike that in which Don Quioxte recieved the Golden Helm of Mambrino:

This has been on my mind as well. Im gonna try to get up to Alaska, to take some pictures of the Northern lights. Their predicting some pretty intense storms, because of our 11 year Sunspot cycle, is coinciding with our Solar system moving from the top of the Milky way to beneath it. A rare cosmilogical event. A polar shift is definitely possible. Woohoo!

ok, i guess i need to ask then, cause i think i'm not understanding something.
like, lets say we did change the roll to $6k and the unit to $5 in the sheet. ok, i understand the sheet will no longer agree with the sim in the image.
so, but the question becomes once that change is made, wouldn't the data yielded still be valid for that particular game? in other words if you changed the roll and unit in the sim to the 6k and $5 units wouldn't the data for the sheet agree with the sims' data?
Well, what I meant by changing units was changing the number of units you bet at any count. Like I thought the sheet you posted had 1.2 units at -3, 2.4 units at -2, 4 units at -1 & 0, 8 units at =1,2&3 and 10 units after that. And 1 unit from -9 to -4.

As long as that unit spread remains unchanged, you can change roll (say $6K and unit to $5) and $unit size to anything you want. Most things will still agree with the sim picture - things like avg adv (.874% in sim - I got .873%), avg unit bet (sim has 2.145 - I get 2.144) stan dev per round (sim gets 3.895 units - I get 3.893 units), win rate per 100 hds in units (sim gets 1.874 - I get 1.871), N0 won't change. DI won't change.

What will change is the dollar amount of your avg bet, the dollar amount of EV per round, the dollar amount of stan dev per round. The ROR too if the number of units in roll change.

We must be using slightly different sheets because I just noticed one of your pics has a line for hands played per hour and the sheet you posted doesn't have it lol.

And it could still be a screwed up sheet too!

Doesn't matter - the idea is run your sim, and decide how to bet it with how nuch and go for it if you like it. Run a few so you'll know what to bet if pen changes. Or if you decide to back-count just because maybe once you are behind a table and you can do it. Know what to bet to keep the risk where you like it.

Then keep track of results frequently. Ideally grouping by same game. Track your luck lol.

O wait - I forgot this is voodoo lol. Bet any darn way you want anytime you feel like it lol. You can still win often, and last a long long time lol.

Golden Helmet Of Mambrino
DON QUIXOTE
Hand over that golden helmet!

BARBER
But this is a shaving basin!

DON QUIXOTE
Shaving basin! Know thou not what this really is?
The Golden Helmet of Mambrino!
When worn by one of noble heart, it renders
him invulnerable to all wounds!
(to the Barber whacking the barrel with his sword)
Hand it over!

Thou Golden Helmet of Mambrino,
With so illustrious a past,
Too long hast thou been lost to glory,
Th'art rediscovered now at last!
Golden Helmet of Mambrino
There can be no hat like thee!
Thou and I now, ere I die now,
Will make golden history!

BARBER
(aside to Sancho)
I can hear the cuckoo singing
In the cuckooberry tree...

SANCHO
(aside to Barber)
If he says that that's a helmet,
I suggest that you agree...

BARBER
(aside to Sancho)
But he'll find it is not gold
And will not make him bold and brave...

SANCHO
(aside to Barber)
Well, at least he'll find it useful
If he ever needs a shave!

DON QUIXOTE
Thou Golden Helmet of Mambrino,
Thy deeds the world will not forget,
Now Don Quixote de La Mancha,
Will bring thee greater glory yet!

DON QUIXOTE, BARBER, SANCHO, MULETEERS
Golden Helmet of Mambrino
There can be no hat like thee.

DON QUIXOTE
Thou and I now, ere I die now,
Will make golden history!

BARBER, SANCHO, MULETEERS
Golden Helmet of Mambrino
Will make golden history!

"Lucky people generate their own good fortune."

Sage, not sure if I got this right, but I think I am posting on the end of page 26 of your 'Luck' thread. (Is this the longest thread in history?) I came across this quote from Richard Wiseman's book: The Luck Factor (2003) He was a psychologist and his book did not focus on casinos or gambling.

Here is his bottom line quote: "Lucky people generate their own good fortune via four basic principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good."

These look like a good framework to begin expecting more 'good luck.' Although, probably more than a few of the BJ book-Gurus-authors, would strongly suggest that intuition is voodoo, when it comes to gambling. But we are not gambling, are we... We are GAMING because we have the house edge at blackjack and therefore, we can control...variance, heh heh.

me, i'm just a gambler, a proud honorary member of the MMOA those of whom i'm quite confident hold the edge through science and maths such as are written of in orthodox bj books and more.
i guess we can fiddle around with variance, just not so sure about controlling it.

Variance is easy to control once you realize that it is unalterable. At the same time, you must realize that it is designed to never yield the desired outcome. Therefore, you will derive the greatest degree of happy outcomes by simply ignoring it altogether. Beware, however, that if you ignore it for the purpose of influencing a happy outcome, it will only make it yield an unhappy one, as it is designed, as said before, to never yield the desired outcome. Can I make it any clearer?
