I actually quite prefer that everyone think I've never won anything playing this game.KewlJ said:Terribly sorry Don. Very unintentional. OR, maybe I thought it goes without saying that you have done well. But again, my apologies.
the author of The Theory of Blackjack, pretty much claimed he didn't win anything at the game. see page 2, in the introduction.DSchles said:I actually quite prefer that everyone think I've never won anyting playing this game.

If I may borrow from Bjarg, whether a player starts with a modest or magnificent bankroll and whether they win or lose, there are some people who will always be losers...bjarg said:I started with a decent bankroll but I was never an overall loser, so I guess I could have started with a very small br and do very well.
I was very lucky on my first 2 years.
Don, have you ever mentioned in any of your posts how much you won? I have no feel what so ever how you have done over the years. I remember in Blackjack Attack of you telling the story of going to the casino and losing. I also think once you mentioned you had one losing year in your life. I can't remember where I read this, probably one of the forums. Any chance you might disclose how well you done over the years?DSchles said:"On this site alone, I will mention a few: Ryemo, 21forme, LVBear, Bosox, LC Larry, Johndoe, T-Bonz, Zengrifter, Zenking, and even Zeebabar with all his issue, has significant winning results."
Happy to know that you realize I haven't ever won any significant money playing this game!

"anyting"DSchles said:I actually quite prefer that everyone think I've never won anyting playing this game.
"Thay's" or "That's"?DSchles said:"anyting"
Yeah, I already corrected that before I saw your post. It's a typing thing. Half the time that I type "thing," I think I'm hitting the h, but it doesn't appear. Of course, thay's no excuse for not proofreading what I wrote.
Don, I thought you only played blackjack once, and you wrote about it in chapter one.
Absolutely right.
Don
Yes, probably. Really sorry. I'm a poor typist, and despite my patience to proofread everything I write, I make so many mistakes the first time around that it's a miracle that I manage to find 99% of them. It's very frustrating. If you saw what the first draft of any of my posts looked like, you'd be mortified. I know I am. [Six typos in this post!]LC Larry said:"Thay's" or "That's"?
2 in one day has to be a record!

Yup. I really needed to have taken a typing class, even though I did have a course in junior high school. I am not slow, despite two-finger "hunt and peck" technique. It's just that I must have fat fingers, and I simply hit a terrible amount of wrong keys. I also invert letters, often having to reverse two-letter combination that my brain simply always types the wrong way. Frustrating.Dummy said:Ever heard of the Infinite Monkey Theorem?

Don is still trying.
Sorry Don. Hopefully that was funny.
Don, don't feel bad Freightman has you beat by a mile.DSchles said:Yup. I really needed to have taken a typing class, even though I did have a course in junior high school. That's because I proofread meticulously everything I write. That makes one of us!Midwest Player said:Don, don't feel bad Freightman has you beat by a mile.
Or should that be "meticulously proofread?" (serious question)DSchles said:I proofread meticulously...
Either way seems fine to me. But, above, the question mark needs to be outside the quotes.21forme said:Or should that be "meticulously proofread?" (serious question)
What comes first quotation or question mark?DSchles said:Either way seems fine to me. But, above, the question mark needs to be outside the quotes.
